Before You Go: Pre-Registration

Space-A sign-up is easier than most people think, but there are a few things you must do before arriving at the terminal.

Required Documents

  • Valid military ID (CAC card)
  • Leave form (DA 31 or NAVMC 10800)
  • Passport (for international flights)
  • Visa (if required by destination country)

Step 1: Register at Your Local AMC Terminal

Most AMC terminals offer in-person sign-up during business hours. You can also sign up remotely:

Remote Sign-Up Options

  1. Email sign-up — Most terminals accept email registration. Include:
    • Full name, rank, branch
    • Number of travelers
    • Destination preferences
    • Travel dates
  2. Take A Hop app — Third-party app that shows flight schedules
  3. AMC website — Check official schedules at amc.af.mil

Step 2: Mark Yourself Present

Your sign-up date and time determines your selection priority within your passenger category.

  • Sign up as early as possible — the clock starts from your sign-up time
  • You must mark yourself present at the terminal on your travel date
  • Failure to mark present means you won’t be called, even if seats are available

Step 3: Wait for Roll Call

Roll calls typically happen 2-3 hours before departure. Listen carefully:

  • Names are called by category, then by sign-up date/time
  • If called and you miss it, you lose your spot
  • Bring entertainment — waits can be long

Step 4: Board and Go!

Once called, you’ll:

  1. Verify your documents
  2. Get your boarding pass
  3. Load your bags (weight limits apply)
  4. Board the aircraft

Space-A Sign-Up Checklist

  • Valid military ID
  • Leave form (DA 31 / equivalent)
  • Passport (current, not expiring within 6 months)
  • Destination visa (if needed)
  • AMC terminal registration (email or in-person)
  • Mark present at terminal
  • Backup commercial flight plan
  • Cash/card for meals and incidentals
  • Patience and flexibility

Pro tip: Sign up for multiple destinations at once. If one flight fills up, you’re already on the list for the next option.
